Documentary Photography for Preserving your Legacy

Small Weddings, Creative Headshots, Interiors and Events

Annah made our group of shy folks feel so comfortable, and it shows in our photos. We love how the photos came out, and the whole experience felt so warm from start to finish.

As a documentary photographer encouraging authentic connection and emotion, fake smiles have no place here!

I specialize in small weddings, artistic headshots, interiors and events.

The most special parts of your life deserve to be documented

What I offer as a documentary photographer:

✔️ Capturing emotion

  • My posing and prompting techniques rely on getting to know your personality, what your natural smile looks like, and bringing out your natural movements. This might be brought on by baking cookies in your kitchen, walking your dog through the neighborhood or sitting in your backyard. Doing things you normally do in places you’d normally be. I encourage authenticity. If you have a pimple on your chin, I’ll of course edit that out and anything else that is temporary, but other parts of your body that make up who you are, I will not edit.

✔️ Making the ordinary look extraordinary

  • When I arrive at your home for family photos for example, I watch how the sun comes through the front window, the way your dog curls up on the couch like they have a million times before, the routine you go through to put on your shoes- things you do every day that make you who you are. I see your home as the place that keeps you safe, where you feel comfortable and are able to express yourself fully. I capture the details of your life and show how important your existence is.

✔️ Being an observer

  • Often times during your elopement or wedding, I’ll notice someone go in for a hug, see a special moment happen within 3 seconds and it only lasts for 2 seconds! I’m always anticipating these interactions. Maybe it’s your grandma reaching for your hand to tell you she loves you or I see a guest doing a twirl as I overhear someone compliment their dress. I’m excellent at looking for and documenting these beautiful moments.

*An important note: I welcome everyone. All genders, sexualities, religions, ages, sizes, ethnicities and political views. I treat everyone like an old friend. I believe that we are all connected and kindness is crucial. Our time here is limited. Every moment is the most important. Even if you have acne, even if the weather is stormy, and even if you feel as though nothing special enough is happening to warrant having photos taken- your existence is enough.
